About Capital Food Blitz
On the evening of Thursday, June 5,
communities in Ottawa will take part in the Fourth Annual
Capital Food Blitz. The Blitz is a door-to-door
food collection initiative organized by The Food Bank and its supporters. Each year this event
is growing and more teams are participating, helping to collect
more food from more Ottawa residents.
Previous Blitz's have taken place in the Westboro area and will continue to do so in 2008. The Food Bank is also pleased to extend the food drive to other Ottawa communities, enabling others to donate and help fight community hunger this June.
More than 40,000 people per month receive assistance
through the various service agencies that The Food Bank supports;
40% of these people are children. The Food Bank provides support
to 127 member agencies. These include emergency grocery programs,
soup kitchens, drop-in centres, recovery programs, women’s
and men’s shelters and school breakfast programs, among
others.
Sign up on your own, or even better, organize

your social community, your religious community, your athletic
